Ice pressurize Culpepper Comets’ defense to win 4-0

Match Report – McLean Ice vs Culpepper Comets, October 24

On a cold Fall Sunday our team once again played with energy and confidence maintaining the majority of possession throughout the game and exploiting the oppositions’ defensive weaknesses.

Throughout the game Culpepper Comets never really threatened Ice in attack. Any attacks were quickly shut down by our solid defense. By maintaining pressure on the full backs, combined with good passing play Ice scored in the 15^th and 23^rd minutes to finish the first half at 2-0.

In a coincidental moment, Coach Haytham showed up just before the first goal to watch the game. "See what happens when I show up!" he shouted after the first goal was scored.

Most of the second half was a game of attrition with the Comets forced into almost total defensive play and simply trying to keep the scoreline down. However it was only a matter of time before Ice scored again making it 3-0 with about ten minutes of play left.

In the final minutes Ice scored again making the final result 4-0 and a comprehensive win for the team.

If there was a theme for this game it was teamwork. All the goals scored were not as a result of individual heroics but a great combination of passing and assists to set up the scoring chances. Well done boys!!
